It's that House Again

Last issue we put on record how a house was brought down a hill at Hakarori. This month's instalment shows how the house was safely towed over to Wainui, where it will be reerected.

One of the problems facing the contractors (Monk Bros.) was how to squeeze the house through a narrow part of the road on the Makarori side without holding up traffic for too long.

Two pictures as truck and trailer neared the flat. In all pictures on this page, note man on roof of house, stationed there to assist passage under telephone wires.
Trip from Makarori to site near the Okitu Store at Wainui took about four hours.
