Holiday Theatre

Theatregoers were treated to a variety of fare during the holiday season. First, the Victoria University Revue Company staged a revue, "Knees", and later in the month the Garrick Theatre presented "The Merchant of Venice" in the Queen's Gardens. The innovation of producing the play outdoors was a huge success. At left, Shylock (Len Assheton-Harbord) tells Antonio (John Parker) and Ren Olykan (Bassanio), at left, of his price for a loan.
