Venturer Scouts Say "Thankyou"

Scouts are always doing good turns for others, but when the public helped the Tiranui Venturer Scout unit to raise funds last year, the Scouts reciprocated with a novel "thank you". This took the form of a cocktail party and a dinner to end all dinners, to which were invited all who had helped the unit during the year. Major project last year was the cutting and distribution of manuka firewood, a project which raised $800. This will be used to buy equipment. At the end of the dinner, Doug Boyes, district leader of the Venturer Unit, was presented with his "wood badge" (a couple of manuka logs), by the District Commissioner of Scouts, Nelson North, Ian McConchie (above).

Plans for the new Venturer Scout Hall, which will probably be erected on the site of the present Roger Kingsford Hut, were displayed.
