While there is blossom aplenty throughout the Nelson province in the spring, the real splash of colour is provided by what a well-known gardening personality calls "ruddydendroms". And adding to the beauty of these rhododendrons in Isel Park is vivacious Maureen Fox.

Among the "sights to gladden the heart" recently was this one. A shaggy Shetland pony rigged up to a small "Jauntin'" cart and full of happy children. The outfit belongs to Bruce and Heather Mills, Stoke, seen here with their friends Melva Dunstan (on the pony's back), and Michael, Darryl and Kay Brown.
