The Nelson Jaycees' project of tidying up Botanical Hill and erecting a landmark a bit more appropriate than the dilapidated trig sign, was carried a stage further with the provision of this model of a possible replacement for the trig station made by Dick Birch. Approval of the Lands and Survey Department, however, will have to be obtained first. One observation from us: the seating won't be any good unless the Jaycees can prevail upon Mr Leigh to have those unsightly and view-blocking macrocarpas topped.
