Preparations for the reconstruction of Waimea Road between Bishopdale and Wakatu are proceeding steadily. A huge hill of filling awaits spreading while trucks and dozers work on removing surplus material on the roadside. At left work is well advanced on the widening of the Jenkin Stream bridge. The abutment on this side is being removed.

The new classroom block at Nelson College for Girls is well under way. This £61,500 double storey building will contain 9 classrooms, a staff workroom and common room.
