Not Only For The Birds

The old saying " it's strictly for the birds", certainly doesn't apply to gliding. This is one sport in which human beings can match the birds and get tremendous enjoyment from it. The thrill of it all, if you've never been gliding, is unbelievable. It's peaceful. No engine noise, no mad hustle and bustle. Just the. dip and soar and the quiet whistle of the slipstream. The Nelson Gliding Club, under the sponsorship of Wright Stephenson's Garage, is shortly to hold a gliding scholarship. The winner of the scholarship will be trained to the solo stage free of charge. Each entrant will be taken for a flight and the one showing the most aptitude will be the winner.
