Highland Ball

Scots from all parts of Nelson district and a strong contingent from Marlborough converged on the Stoke hall for the Nelson Highland Pipe Band's annual ball. The full dress of pipers and drummers added to the brilliance of the scene and, as usual, the ball was a tremendous success.

Pat Walker and Terry York made history when they became the first members of the band to become engaged (they were to meet at the altar last Saturday).
