Beachcombers' Ball

Twisting on the sand was a new experience for many visitors to Nelson who had not previously attended one of the Surf Club's beachcombers' balls. Thousands of young folk packed the area immediately below the club's pavilion and there were hundreds more at vantage points around the pavilion. One of the highlights of the ball was the rocket display.
