Members of the Nelson Tramping Club took a little jaunt along the Heaphy Track from Bainham to Karamea recently. The pic above shows a stopover at the Gouland Downs Hut and the one at right, a rest break in The Brown.
Mrs I. Springer, 115 Main Road, Hope, receives her mail from postie John Westbrook, on the first day of the introduction of mail deliveries at Hope. Looking on are two members of the wide-awake Hope Ratepayers' Association, Peter Scott and Bill York (chairman) who pressed for the service. The old post-box (below) is also at the Hope Post Office. We took its pic just to show how old it was. Aa you can see, it's a relic of the Victorian era.
