Nelson Wins Mahar Cup

Nelson had little difficulty in winning the Mahar Cup at the annual inter-provincial athletics meeting at Trafalgar Park, Nelson scored 135 points and Westport with 91 points was second. As well, Nelson won the McDonnell Cup for athletics and the Jones Cup for cycling. Eleven records were broken during the day.

M. Meyer (Marl) wins the three miles cycle from J. Williscroft (Nel) in a very exciting race. His time equalled the 1955 record.

C. McDonnell (Grey) leads the field in the senior mile but he was second (below) to E. McGuire (Westport).

Coming up to the tape in the junior 220, won by M. Loveridge (Nel), with G. Page (Marl) second, and G. Hall-Watson (Nel) third.
