A Quarter Century of Progress
Within a few short weeks visitors from all over New Zealand will come swarming into Nelson by car caravan, bus and air. By far the greatest percentage of these will find thier accommodation at the Tahunanui Motor Camp. Many come back to the camp year after year and it is not surprising when the facilities available here are taken into account. Recently the Tahuna Sands Association, which runs the camp, celebrated its first 25 years of work and progress. This anniversary coincided with the opening of two cabins, a kitchen and two ablution blocks. While we were there we had a wander about the camp with a camera, for we know there are many Nelsonians who have never been through it. It is something Nelson can be justly proud of. Not only is it the only four-star camp in the South Island, but it is believed to be the largest four star camp in New Zealand (this year capacity has been increased to 4000).

After the opening ceremony, Mr and Mrs A. C. Harris, Mrs A. H. Crowley, Mr and Mrs E. A. Bone have time to chat. Mr Harris is president of the association. Mrs Crowley's husband was president for many year and Mr Bone was on the executive for 25 years and chairman of the camp committee until his retirement last year.
Mr Auty Karley had some worthwhile suggestions.
One of the lovely caravan sites.
