Early Nelson

The S. S. Koi's funnel makes a forlorn picture at low tide outside the port. She capsized in 1910 while bringing about 200 sheep from Motueka. All sheep were drowned but no lives lost. She was later raised, taken into Nelson, and after modification, was used for many years.
