Nelson Bays Hit Best Form
Displaying a fire and purpose not seen before by the writer in 10 years of local rugby, Nelson Bays crushed the Seddon Shield challenger, Marlborough, 24-9 at Trafalgar Park last month. Marlborough began full of its usual fire and two fairly fortuitous though nonetheless praiseworthy tries raised Marlborough's hopes for a victory. But on this occasion, fire was fought by fire and in the second half Nelson Bays had assumed a control which it never appeared likely to relinquish. This was a really good game.

Nelson Bays had a distinct advantage in the lineouts, with Terry Julian, Bruce Smith and Bevan Grant winning some really good ball.
Oh, the pain - Des Martin, lumbered by Cochrane on the line, dived over close to the posts for Marlborough but lost the ball in so doing.
"Here, you take it going thataway" - Trevor Morris and Terry Mitchell bring off a good scissors.
