Leaving Nelson
Kingsford Quay, latest addition to the facilities of Port Nelson, was officially opened by the Minister of Marine(Mr McCready) last month. The $430,000 structure was named after Mr Reg Kingsford, chairman of the Nelson Harbour Board from 1945 to 1953. Mr Kingsford is seen at LEFT after he had unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening.
The Nelson Rowing Club's lightweight four has met with considerable success this season. The team was first in the inter-club, at Wairau, second in the inter-club, Picton, first in the interclub, Nelson, second in the interclub, Lake Rotoiti, first in the Marlborough championships at Wairau and second in the Canterbury championships.
