Bowling Club Opens
New Zealand gained two new citizens, both of them from Takaka, at a naturalisation ceremony conducted by the Golden Bay County Council chairman (Mr H. L. Riley) recently. Bill Halewyn receives a gift from Trevor Wells (Takaka Advancement and Social Club), above, and David Law receives a similar gift from Golden Bay Jaycee president, Alan Swafford (above right).
Pinker-Waddington. Carol June, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. R. Waddington, 152 Edward Street, Wakefield, to Russell John, second son of Mr and Mrs S. Pinker, Motupipi, Takaka.
The Takaka Women's Bowling Club came of age during its 21st opening ceremony recently. Present for the function was Mrs I. Reid (Westport), past president of the Dominion Women's Bowling Council, seen here with Mrs N. Taylor (right), president of the local club.
