The Nelson Rowing Club appears to be experiencing a revival of interest after a period of apparent disinterest. A good turnout of members made the opening of the season the best for a number of years. The pic at top was taken during the opening.

Club stalwarts Val Dyce, a life member who commenced his connections with the club as an 8-year-old cox, Geoff Gould, club patron and club member for 37 years, and Athol Graham, a past club captain and committeeman.

The sun was just peeping over the yard-arm when Ken Scholfield, Brian Miller and Gavin McLachlan released these pigeons for the New Plymouth Pigeon Racing Club. All three are members of the Nelson club. At the same time as they were effecting this release, their birds were being released in other parts of the country by other enthusiasts.
