The Nelson Aero Club took possession of its sixth aircraft earlier this month. The latest aircraft to join the fleet is a Cessna 180, rebuilt by Nelson aircraft engineer, Mr P. M. Lacy. The club already had another Cessna in the fleet, but this was the lower-powered 172, little brother of the more powerful 180 which is the work horse of the Cessna range of light aircraft. As well as being able to accommodate four, the 180 is fitted with electrically operated supply drop racks and with stretcher ambulance facilities. The new aircraft is pictured above. At left, Mr Lacy hands over the logs and keys to club president, Mr Doug Heinz, who reciprocates, below left, by presenting Mr Lacy with a pottery wine jar (full, of course).
