Mr L. C. D. Harries, who has retired from the. staff of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Mercantile Company Ltd. after 51 years' service, with his wife at their farewell function at Ulverstone.

Since graduating as an air hostess for NAC eight months ago, Miss Waiehu Te Purei, of Gisborne, grand-daughter of Sir A. T. Ngata, has attained the rank of training and check hostess.

A well-spoken family are the Parkers in Centennial Crescent. The three children, Elizabeth, Janet, and Tony gained 10 firsts, three seconds, and three thirds, in the elocution sections of the recent Rotorua competitions festival.
