Aero Club Scholarship

There were more than twenty entries in the Gisborne Aero Club's flying scholarship held at Darton Field last month. Each entrant was given a trial flight with the Club's instructor, Mr Peter Kearins, in the Cessna Ambulance aeroplane, and from their performances, the winner was selected.

The scholarship, which was won by Mr Martin Williams of Whatatutu, entitled him to free training by the club up to pilot licence standards.

"Photo News" went along on one of the trial flights and recorded these pictures of an entrant, Mr Tom Spence, and instructor, Mr Peter Kearins, flying over the city.
