John Roberts, winner of the Gisborne Amateur Roller Skating Club's skating marathon, leading Judy Richards and others into a bend in the early stages of the race. Roberts covered 100 miles 85 yards in !3 hours, 12 minutes.

Elder David Blackinton, U.S.A., who is on a six months visit to the Church of Latter Day Saints, Cochrane Street. While in Gisborne, he is lecturing and assisting members of the Civic Band, and is to play on a radio broadcast. His gold instruments, a cornet and a trumpet, are valued at over £300.

Mr P. D. Robinson, B.A. Dip Ed., son of Mrs R. W. Ford, Wainui, who has been appointed lecturer at the new Teachers' Training College, Hamilton. Mr Robinson was educated at the Gisborne High School.
