There will be big changes at Tolaga Bay High School this year. Four of the men on the staff have left. The three pictured are Mr Cyril Oliver (who has gone to Samoa); the headmaster, Mr H. A. Hawthorn, who has retired; and Mr Pat Toomey, also leaving. Mr Greig, not pictured, has gone to Rhodesia.

Another Tolaga Bay landmark disappearing...a picture, taken while workmen were demolishing the Tolaga Bay Rowing shed.

Mrs Oliver will also be missed. Here she is with a class of children.

Memories of the good old days of dancing a quarter of a century ago, when everybody was there at 8 p.m., dressed to the nines, determined hot to miss a dance until 3 a.m. at least, will be recalled by this photo of Sy Kamona and his orchestra at a Wairoa function in 1936. Left to right are Sid Tawera (piano), Reg Bennett (violin), Weti Te Ao Tamihana (sax), --. Kamona (sax). Abe Terauna (drums) and Sy Kamona (sax, leader).
