Wot! No WOF?

Go-Kart drivers will have anything on--otherwise they wouldn't drive go-karts -- so Tom Kane, the vehicle inspector at Gisborne's testing station, wasn't surprised the other day when Alan Hill and John Worsnop turned up at the door looking for a warrant of fitness for their diminutive vehicles.

It was just a "have-on", of course, but Tom obligingly went through the paces, discovered the karts qualified in many of the tests, but fell far short on others (brakes, one wheel only; lights, none at all).

A big Anniversary Weekend Go-Kart Meeting is planned to take place at the Patutahi Domain, January 28 and 29, when enthusiasts from 10 other North Island centres will be present.

"Well, it's got wheels, all right....

....but where are the lights?"

Brake tests: Wheels 1, 2 and 3, nil. Wheel No. 4: Extra good.

No warrant, so the karts had to be karried away
