Tasman Race Entry

A big crowd turned out on Wednesday evening of last week to farewell the Ceceline when it left for Auckland prior to taking part in the Tasman yacht race, scheduled to start in a day or two. The 40ft Ceceline is captained by her owner, Mr R. C. Otway, Gisborne, who has for crew his two sons, Earl and Peter Otway, Kevin Tims, and E. T. Leeds.

Clear of the breakwater, the Ceceline makes a fine picture as she heads north, flanked on one side by a home boat in the bay, and on the other by Young Nick's Head.

This enormous steel tank was made in a weekend in Gisborne recently to the order of BP, Shell & Todd, when it was required at short notice to hold drilling mud at Mangaone which otherwise would have been lost. Krebs Ltd. were the builders.
