On a cloudless, almost windless, winter's day, the setting sun throws a strong cross-light over Gisborne as seen from Kaiti Hill, to provide the camera with a picture of sharp contrasts and heavy shadows, hazy distance, and far-away hills, as the chill of evening descends on the city.
