The first woman from the Gisborne district to qualify as a field librarian is Miss Elizabeth Maclean, daughter of Mrs F. H. Maclean, Sheehan Street. Miss McLean, who was formerly with the Turanganui Library in Gisborne, is now one of the Country Library Service's field officers in the South Island, in one of the remoter parts of which the above picture was taken.
