Boys Hold Cycle Rally

×

One Saturday last month 52 boys, members of the Gisborne Battalion of the Boy's Brigade, took part in a cycle rally, the first of its kind to be held in New Zealand. The boys lined up at the Army Hall, where their machines were inspected by an officer of the Transport Department, then, started off by the Mayor, they pedalled over a course which included a crossing into the Matokotoki Valley and a circuit of city streets. There were check points on the way, the event being run like a motorcar rally trial. The course ended in Anzac Park.
