Athletic Honours to Gisborne
Gisborne runners won 11 of the 12 track events at the annual championshops of the Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay athletic centre, held recently at Childers Road reserve. In winning the Tom Parker Shield for the fifth time, Gisborne scored more points than all other teams combined.
There was considerable public interest in the appearance of Morrie Rae, the world class Auckland sprinter, and the stylish Beverley Weigel, also from Auckland. They are seen at the microphone with the Mayor. Mr Barker.
