At a surprise party at Te Karaka, friends of Mr and Mrs Ron Leatham took the opportunity to extend silver wedding anniversary congratulations.
Mr Leatham was Postmaster at Te Karaka, He has since left to take up the position of Postmaster at Taupo.

Miss Valerie Bignell, of Waipaoa, who has returned to Gisborne after graduating from the New Zealand Missionary College at Palmerston Nth. She plans to further her education in Australia.

Miss Jocelyn Clements, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Clements, 494 Wainui Road, who has left on an extended tour of England and the Continent.

Miss Paea Thompson, grand-daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Tawiri, 104 Sheehan Street, who was among those presented at last year's Labour Ball in Wellington.

Mr and Mrs C. C. Somervell (centre), of 34 Disraeli Street, celebrated their golden wedding during the holidays. Both Mr and Mrs Somervell were born in Gisborne and lived here all their lives. Mr Somervell had a long connection with the local building trade.
