FLETCHER MARATHON

Members of the Gisborne Runners and Walkers Club who travelled to Rotorua and joined the 2,500 people competing in the Fletcher Marathon. The gruelling "Round the Lake" course is arguably the best known runners' event in New Zealand. To complete this marathon is a success on its own. Liz Thodey won her age division with Bob Carter finishing 3rd in his age division.

PREMIER DIVISION 1st ROUND CUP

Gisborne High School Old Boys Premier Team have emerged as the First Round Champions of the Premier Division in the Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union Competition. They began with a string of wins to put them into the top position before the round had been completed. Now they are concentrating on the next two rounds of the Top Six Competition aiming to qualify in the Top 4.

SPOT X for SNAPPER

The fishing in Gisborne, as usual has, been pretty rewarding. Locals have been catching some good sized fish this year.

Harry Stott (left) and Rob Faulkner were estatic with these 17lb and 24lb snapper. Those grins couldn't be wiped off their faces with a wire brush to this day.
