At the finish Mark Furlan (left) made up the 20m lead that Ron had made the lap before. At the finish they crossed together. Mark represented New Zealand in the 10,000m at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games. He now lives in Hawkes Bay. Ron is currently a World Champ from his successes in the World Games last year.
