BURTON CUP

In 1910 the Burton Cup was donated by W E Burton, the owner of a Gladstone Road Hardware business, for competition between the Gisborne and Napier Bowling Clubs. This year was the 87th tournament which attracted 12 visiting teams from outside the Gisborne-East Coast Centre. The Burton Cup final was a close encounter between Laurie Bennett's Wairoa team and Ken Goodwin's Kahutia team.
