GISBORNE SURFCASTERS
FISHING COMPETITION

275 rods held by "sinker chuckers" from Kaitia to Wellington had a go at the 21st annual Gisborne Fishing Open Competition held in Poverty Bay from Pacific Street south to the Big River. Despite the wide variety of baits used (crayfish to trevally, garden snails to chicken) the $1000 major prize for the biggest snapper was not won.

All eyes were on Peter Miller (blue T-shirt) at the prize giving after the competition.

Wayne Sutton with the biggest kahawai which landed him a new rod & reel.

Richard Dawson with the largest snapper caught, unfortunately 15mm short of the Club's min length of 300mm. Hardluck.

A special prize of a rod from Stirling Sports to Damian Salt (left) who broke his rod before he could try it out. Nice one guys.

Lots of smiling faces on section and spot prize winners all of whom have fishing tales to tell.
