Paikea Whalers girls R L T Memorial Cup for Hara Hara Whati Tamehana Tieke Whati

An annual challenge between the Panthers and the Whalers. The playing style of the Whalers reaped lots of points in a great game of Rugby League at the Awapuni Stadium. The Whalers defended well, holding up everytime the Panthers crossed their line and counter attacked with deadly consistency.

The Paikea Whalers coached by Pauline Haapu successfully defended the challenge for the Cup with a fast and agile team with a kicker who converting 7 of the 13 tries scored.

The girls played a great game wrapping runners up as they ran at the advantage line.

The Panthers coached by Hoot Campbell played with great spirit and determination.

Sally & Kiryrsha couldn't stop Violet Tuapawa breaking through Panther's the back line.

Leigh Pere impressed with her straight running, committing the Whalers into desperate defence.

The two packs met time & time again with neiher side giving an inch. Their technique was a credit to their coaches.

Mahara Paul ran rampantly through the backs with only the Panthers halfback Jean Kelly to beat.

Determination by Sharon Taylor enabled her to catch and tackle Jerry as she crossed the line to score.
