DANCE TROPHIES

14 year old Lytton High School pupil, Tamsyn Russell started dancing with The Dianne Logan School of Dance when she was four. Tamsyn was always interested in dancing and has always performed well, passing most of her Ballet Exames with Honours. She won all of the cups and trophies in this photo at the recently held 20th Jubilee Braemar Dance Competition in Gisborne.

The future of Rugby is playing New Image Rugby at Barry Park. Riverdale U/8 are a team with an impressive record who (up to the end of July) had not been beaten. Lined up with their coach Basil Franklin, John Taitoko, Jordan Maxwell, Andrew Phillips, Joeseph Phillips, Lenard Franklin, Whineray Groube, Michael Semmens, Phillip Leach, Waipatu Winitana, Tobias Stone & William Kirikiri. Georgie Franklin is the ball holder. Reid Halliwell & Seontri Taukamau were absent that day.

PROMISING GOLFER

19 year old Dion Milner from Tolaga Bay has been recognised as one of NZ's future golfers. Dion is the 2nd local who has been acknowledged, one of 10 in NZ. He was presented with a new golf bag by Maxfli Maori Junior Development Programme, an organisation devoted to promoting promising young juniors throughout the regions. Dion is one of the East Coast / Poverty Bay Golf Representatives who regularly travel to tournaments being exposed to top competition in matchplay situations.

the CLARKES of GISBORNE

Following a long period of "business as usual" Gisborne Carpets finally had an "official opening" Andrea and John Clarke, the hosts, called upon Father Joe Stack to Bless the Business, followed by Gisborne's Mayor John Clarke who spoke about phone calls to the real John Clarke. (The Mayor didn't mind calls regarding carpet enquiries & he could guess the reception regarding ratepayer problems to the other Clarkes at 2am)

MAX TRAX CYCLES

NAME THE BUSINESS - WIN A BIKE
Sharon and Tom Johnston combined a Name the Business competition (with its associated hype) and the official opening of their new business. The names suggested in the competition didn't quite hit their desired impact. All close entries were put in a basket and the lucky winner was Anna Gray, a typographer with the Gisborne Herald, who suggested Makin' Trax as a name.

HOSTS SOME OF THE AUCKLAND WARRIORS
They qued for an opportunity to meet Auckland Warriors Logan Edwards & Joe Vagana. The supersportsmen were were flown into Gisborne especially to promote the opening of Video Ezy the local outlet of a nationwide network.
