Window of Welcome

Replacing a wall with an interesting stained glass window behind the main counter at Inland Revenue, to give an open and friendly "everybody is welcome" atmosphere, was the brief given to local artist Laurie Lautmann. The window took many hours of planning and building and is a meeting of cultures as is the view seen from the offices of the Quay Point Building in Reads Quay. It mixes the medium of glass, tukutuku panels, flora and fauna and the dominant Young Nicks Headland seen through an open window. The unveiling was a time of celebration of the positive role of Inland Revenue within the community.
