INTERMEDIATE TRIATHLON
Triathlons seem to be the sport of the 90s. Gisborne Intermediate held a sponsored triathlon and invited Ilminster & Waikohu to compete. The events included the disciplines of cycling twice around the playing field, swimming 3 lengths of the school pool and running a lap of a running track set out on the playing field. There were 4 events (Fl Girls, Fl Boys, F2 Girls & F2 Boys) We concentrated on the Fl Girls in action on this page & have photos of the winning teams on page 13.
At the briefing prior to the 1st event. The children were instructed on the rules of the Tri-Rod Cycles/Blitz sponsored Triathlon.
The F1 Girls were 1st to compete. A crash on the 1st corner spoilt the event for a few unlucky ones. The others pedalled to their swimming partner.
A little congestion at the end of the 1st lane in the swimming section.
