These fish, photographed this month in the Army Hall, were part of a fascinating display arranged by the Gisborne Aquarium Society in conjunction with the Poverty Bay Horticultural Society's daffodil show.

Mrs Laura Houlahan, Palmerston Road, whose death has occurred in her 85th year. A descendant of Potatau, the first Maori King, Mrs Houlahan was a pupil, and later a teacher, at Hukarere College, Napier, and also held the post of court interpreter in Rata. She is survived by three sons, Lionel, Owen and Roy.

Mrs J. S. Benfell, Gladstone Road, didn't manage to win a trip to Melbourne in the Rinso-Lifebuoy "Olympic Games" contest. But she did win a shining new clothes drier.
