In the Junior Tower equivalent, Under 23 teams from 15 provinces plus a NZ Maori side, 1 from Queensland and NSW, competed at the Centennial Course in Taupo. Although overawed by the occasion, Poverty Bay/East Coast had two outstanding players, Anthony Pardoe & Hamish Douglas who have a great future ahead of them after 4 rounds in the 70s during the Tournament.
