Polo Cross

In 1947 an Australian started the game of Polo Cross which he had adapted from a British indoor game. This exciting and skillful game needing one horse, can be played by men or women and has a great social atmosphere. The Gisborne District has 47 junior players, of which one team is the current National Junior Champion.

The game has 6 chukkas, each of which begin with a "chuck in" to the two teams lined up.

17 yr old Atahere Cameron & his horse Cosmo with 18 yr old Trevor Brown & his mount Bong (both No1 s for Whatatutu). They played in the A Grade Final of the Opening Tournament held on John Charteris's property.
