The 1994 East Coast Regional shearing and woolhandling competitions held at William and Louise Livingston's property at Waingake was a typical Young Farmers fun day with celebrations "East Coast style" at night. With hearty farm tucker thanks to Findlays Bakery and Woolworths Superstore, all competitors were well prepared when it came to the "seriousness" of the teams event. This was won by the Woodville team by 0.6 of a point over Hikurangi (Gisborne) and the individual classes were just as competitive.
