CENTENNIAL MENS OPEN

Perfect conditions and tricky greens tested the 128 golfers who made up the 8 sixteens in the Gisborne Motors Ford Centennial Men's Open at Poverty Bay Golf club. With 28 clubs from throughout NZ and Australia represented, spectators were treated to some wonderful golf over the 2 qualifying rounds and 2 days of matchplay.

Former champion and favourite for the title, Waka Donelly, in perfect position teeing off the 6th in the qualifying round. Donnelly was put out by Adam Broadmore ( BOP No 3) in the semi finals

Winner of the 2nd 16, Anthony Pardoe on the par 3 2nd hole. Anthony defeated 1991 champion Bernie Martin to win the Barrington Miller Cup.

Junior golfer Paul Penhearow defeated Australian Ian Young (Right) to win the third 16. Paul comes from PB but attends school in Auckland.

Gisborne Motors Ford Centennial Men's Open champion for 1994 was Bob Haase (Left) seen here teeing off at the third hole. Bob is a former PB/ EC golfer who now plays for the Titirangi Club. Watching the flight of the ball on the right is his opponent in the final, Adam Broadmore from the Bay of Plenty. The match was won on the 19th by Haase with a 5 metre birdie putt
