Tour 16s took part in the Gisborne Park Golf Club ladies 2 day Open Championship. Sponsored by Harvest Wines and held on a couple of Poverty Bay's chilliest days, the tournament attracted players from Te Puia to Mahia. Winner of the J.W. Eade Cup for the Open Champion was Jean Morley of Gisborne Park (below), who played her sister Agnes Gray ( Poverty Bay - below right) in the final.

Cini Hapi (Left), Ladies Club Captain at Gisborne Park who hosted the championship and Terry Allan, Poverty Bay Ladies Club Captain. Theirs is a big job, with plenty of responsibility, requiring cool, clear- thinking people who can make good decisions. It is great for women golfers in this area to know two such capable and experienced people are in charge.
