The Gisborne Swimming Club, the oldest swimming club in Gisborne with its earliest records dated 1919, is very much alive in 1994. With a focus on "learn to swim" the club stil has its champions: (from left) Alister Swney, Jackson Murray, Brendon Harvey, Charlie Holmberg (Chairman & Life Member), Peter Cook, Colleen Skuse (Coach), Shaun O'Connell, Steven Robinson, Crystal Murray, Jedda Chivers & Nicola Sceats.

The Gisborne Herald YMCA Gym team who travelled to Napier for the 1st competition of the season are from left (back): Elly McGuiness (coach), Siobhan Kirk & Kate Wirepa (coach). Christal Mead (front left), Holly Corbett, Stephen Kirk (2nd overall Level 3 & he also won the top club award for his level), Holly Waite & Jessica Apperley.
