Gisborne AIRWOMENS' Association
Auckland's North Shore was the venue for the New Zealand Airwomens' Rally recently and 7 women and 2 instructors took to the air from Gisborne to compete in the various competitions held over 3 days. Approximately 80 registered for the rally where forced landings, turning, stalling, fly-offs and written competitions were the order of the day.
Student Pilot Philippa Howe was 1st equal in the Briar Smith Victory Trophy, a competition involving taking off, stalling, landing and airmanship. Pip received a 3rd in the Navigation Trophy.
