93 SPORTS AWARDS

Sport Eastland and CCS Tairawhiti secured the wit and charm of John Mitchell,All Black and Captain of the Ranfurly Shield holders Waikato, to be guest speaker at the award ceremony held at the Boys' High Hall. An impressive list of nominees gave the judges a difficult task. However the audience response to the winners in the different catagories, indicated the popularity of each choice. Winner of Sportsman and Sportsperson of the Year was David File.

Master of Ceremonies Terry Sheldrake, Richard Crawshaw National President of CCS and Maurice Priestley President CCS Tairawhiti listened Intently to John Mitchell's informative talk about the pre match preparation for the Shield challenge and the All Black tour of the UK.

Julian Hoogland (left) & James Kerr (right) were the Joint winners of the Junior Sportsman of the Year Award. Julian for his outstanding rowing which make him the best Junior sculler In NZ. James for his selection Into the NZ Secondary Schools and the NZ U/19 Rugby teams. James also won the Hawkes Bay/ Pov Bay Long and Triple Jumps.

The Girls' High Senior Coxed Four rowing team In their walking out uniforms were nominated as they won the North Island Secondary U/17 Champs & were runners up In the NZ Secondary U/l 7 Champs.
