Poverty Bay Polo Club Tournament

The polo grounds at Bushmere rang to the sound of equine action as horses, players, grooms and spectators thrilled to the spectacle of top polo. 17 teams from Wanstead, Rangitikei, Waimai, Hawkes Bay, Cambridge, Poverty Bay and the Auckland based Balfour and Yonge Bears competed for trophies in the annual Ball & Crawshaw sponsored tournament. The Senior trophy was won by Waimai who defeated Balfour 9-8, the Intermediate section by Cambridge who defeated Yonge Bears 9-7 and Hawkes Bay B took out the Junior with a 6-3 win over Wanstead.
