Town & Country Womens Club 40th Birthday

As a result of a meeting at the Masonic Hotel in 1953, the Town and Country Womens Club was formed. Rooms were rented above Hammond Jewellers as a meeting place for country people and the bridge and lunch club have always proved popular. The club has now celebrated its 40th anniversary and many of the 190 members joined in the celebrations at the Fitzherbert Street building which was originally purchased for 4100 pounds.
