1915 saw the Patriotic Carnival and Fete of Nations held in "the Poverty Bay Provincial Capital" Gisborne. There were 10 contestants and Miss Norma Loisel was made Queen of the carnival with 984,440 of the 2,658,109 votes recorded.

One of the most popular items each night at the Fete of Nations was the Dutch dancers.
