Sargeant Michael Cleeton was awarded the British Empire Medal for services well above the call of duty in Somalia. The presentation by the Governor General Dame Catherine Tizard took place at Government House, Wellington. Michael is the son of Decima Baty (pictured) and had been posted as a chef to Army and Airforce personnel.
